Since its inception in the 80s, Artitec has become a thriving company that specialises in building models for museums, architects and shipyards.

For example, Artitec made the diorama ‘Reede van Texel’ for the Maritime and Beachcombers Museum in Texel, which whisks visitors back to the year 1665. They also recreated the Dutch city of Alkmaar circa 1671 for the Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar. The latter was done in the unusual (for dioramas) model railway scale of 1:87.

Since the 90s, the Artitec has applied its expertise to producing resin kits for model makers. These include a popular range of buildings and accessories for model railways, and historic ship models.

Most models of their 1500+ catalogue are HO scale, but in recent years Artitec started to produce items in N-, TT- and even Z scale. Kit sets as well as ready-made items.

Only around a 100 Artitec items have been listed on the Mini-Kiwiland Shop website so far. The catalogue is so diverse that it is not possible to mention everything in one newsletter. In coming weeks I will cover more categories such as train sets, rolling stock, military tanks and figures.

Artitec has an interesting selection of HO scale buildings. It ranges from small factory worker's homes to old city building facades. Mostly of French, Belgian and Dutch origin, but these buildings can also be found in other countries. Most are unpainted kit sets made of resin.

Artitec has more than 15 DAF truck models in its catalogue. Those are reasonable modern compared to the various old GMC 353 and Chevrolet 3T trucks that Artitec has in its catalogue as well.

These Artitec's ready-made models are authentically handcrafted, made from resin and etched metal. Each model is painted by hand, sometimes subtly weathered to create a realistically aged look and feel. The models are unique collectables.

The Artitec's catalogue contains 20 TT scale (1:120) at the moment. Mostly small accessories like bicycles, oil drums and ladders, but also detailed horse-drawn wagons.

In the future Artitec will release some TT scale Russian, German and DDR military tanks.

The Artitec's catalogue contains 30 released Z scale (1:220) at the moment. Mostly accessories like bicycles, oil drums, buffer stops and ladders, but also tiny horse-drawn wagons. Some are kit sets, but most are ready-made.

Quite a few Strelets military figures sets are coming to an end. This means that stock is getting very low and will be sold out soon. It is uncertain that Strelets will reproduce them. Only 8 to 10 sets of the Strelets (300+) backcatalogue gets reproduced a year. Strelets will continue to release around 30 new sets a year.

Our brands pages have had some improvements. The website automatically generates brand pages with information about a specific brand after more than 50 of their products have been entered in our database. On these index pages you can find links to the brand's special offers, new releases, scales etc.

So far I was only able to display some background information text about a brand at the top of the page.

Because I'm giving a lot more information about brands in newsletters than is mentioned on the brands pages on the website, I have enabled the option to give more information on other sections of their page as well.

More information still needs to be added to this page. Other brands will follow after I have highlighted them in newsletters.

Another small improvement of these brand pages is that the lines above and below the logos are now changed from light grey to the brands logo/website colours.
